Itinerary

Meetup starting at 1:30. Time will be needed to explain safety dos and don’ts and Docomo Electric assist bike operation.

The best way to experience, and gain a good understanding, of a new city is on a bicycle.

By bike the journey is the destination!

Join us for a sightseeing journey that will be sure to excite the senses - a cycling cruise through the historical heart of Tokyo! Starting from Tokyo Station we’ll be making our way, on a carefully selected car-free and/or car-lite route, past, over, through, and under(!) the most amazing array of temples, shrines, architecture and art, shops, waterways, bridges and tunnels!

After a break for snacks and refreshments at Shiba Koen in the shadow of Tokyo Tower we will ride along the route of the famous Old Tokaido road - today, it is still a very lively street that still retains it’s original scale and character meandering through interesting neighborhoods and past centuries old landmarks.

Our final stop will be one of Tokyo’s hidden treasures - Ikegami Honmonji Temple for the 700 year old Oeshiki lantern festival. (Link to Ota info page).

After a view of the rooftop garden and walk around the temple riders will be free to enjoy the rest of the festival at their leisure.
